Frank Brangwyn ~ Nativity Window

Nativity Window, Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Bucklebury, Berkshire

The design for this stained-glass window was commissioned by Lady Webley-Parry-Pryse in memory of her mother, Mrs Webley-Parry, who had died on 2 September 1917. Mrs Webley-Parry had given very generously of her time and money in parish affairs. The three-light window is situated in the north aisle of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Bucklebury. The design was executed in glass by James Sylvester Sparrow.

Was Norman Rockwell inspired by J.G. Vibert?
Let us check the list: fat man, globe, magnifying glass, skull cap, red outfit… coincidence, I think not!

Floyd MacMillan Davis  (1896 - 1966)

or: Not a Famous Artist

“Like every illustrator who is worth his salt, his pictures are painted with imagination and honesty.  He manages to put excitement into them and impact and a differentness born of his own originality.  His style and approach are so original that they encourage imitators, and at the same time make the task of imitators insuperably difficult.  Davis has such a feeling for characterization that none of the people he draws are ordinary, and he is willing to lavish loving care upon a job and put all into it he feels it needs regardless of time and effort.” ~ Ernest W. Watson**
